Research
Tasmania has been involved in leukaemia research for many years. In 1967 the inaugural Professor of Medecine, the late Professor A. G. Baikie, established a laboratory for research into leukaemia in Tasmania. Under the direction of Professor R. M. Lowenthal, significant international recognition has been given to the laboratory for its achievements.
Currently research is being conducted in Tasmania to improve the treatment and care of patients as well as studies into the biology of leukaemia.
The Foundation has been involved in research since 1980 by raising money to purchase equipment, finance staff of the research teams and train Tasmanian university research students.
This work could not continue without the ongoing commitment of our volunteers to raise funds for these purposes.
