Achievements.
- Raised nearly $2.5 million since 1980.
- Given over $1.5 million to research in Tasmania, and development of better treatment.
- Provide a house in Hobart for patients and families who need to travel to Hobart for treatment at no cost to patients.
- Refurbished the house in 2002 with new furniture and fittings.
- Provide scholarships for professional development of medical staff so that Tasmania maintains leading edge expertise in the treatment of leukaemia and care of patients.
- Provided funds for the establishment and maintenance of the Bone Marrow Transplant Laboratory from 1981 until 1996 when the Foundation persuaded the State Government to take over this responsibility;
- Helped establish the Bone Marrow Registry in Tasmania as part of the Australian Registry.
- Assisted with funds to establish a Statewide Bone Marrow Transplant Support Group for patients and families who have had bone marrow or blood stem cell transplant.
- Established a special fund to help ensure the continuation of leukaemia research and patient support in Tasmania.
- Provided direct financial assistance to patients and families in need.
